When I first took this shot, all I saw at the time was the can in the road. Taking a closer look, I think it looks like the contents of the can caused the cracks in the concrete above it. Cool, huh?

I had trouble with today's challenge. I'm very uncomfortable taking photos of people. In a group, crowd or other gathering, it's fine, but my photos are better if I take them of nature and art, not moving subjects. I had nothing planned for today other than dropping my daughter off at her job later today and knew I had to push beyond my comfort zone to get the photo I wanted this morning because I didn't want to wait. I admit it, I looked through some of my daughter's wedding pictures I took in April and found one I could use. I decided to just go for a walk and get some shots for the next few days and see what happened. I like to play with the editing software, so it gives me a reason to play if nothing else. I walked up to the mini-mall and took a few photos from a distance of a few men working on a truck in the parking lot but you couldn't see the people and I wouldn't go closer. I headed home again and was taking pictures of flowers, ivy and a few other nature type things when I saw this poor woman across the street valiantly attempting to exercise. It was already over 80 degrees at 9 AM when this photo was taken. She's got the look - headphones, bottled water, and a wilted look about her body. I hope she made it home okay!

Sweet girl whose name is Tramp or Trampie (named after the Cher song, "Gypsy, Tramps and Thieves" - her sister's name is Gypsy and I share space with them both) - 1 of 3 grand fur babies (Suki, Tramp and Gypsy) - she spends time with me every day to share the sun or a snuggle when it's cold.

The kids are off on an adventure today and took the camera with them. Their excitement was contagious and I forgot I'd need a photo today for the challenge and a camera in which to take it. Once they left and things calmed down again here at home, I realized it wouldn't be possible to take a challenge shot today. Thankfully, I took a lot of shots the other day when I was taking photos of the trees and found this in the folder. My window from under my tree that I love so much. It's an interesting perspective to see my mosaic gazing balls from this angle.

The humidity has subsided a bit and this morning before the heat was too strong to do it, I stepped out into the courtyard surrounded by the apt buildings and went under "my" tree. Maple trees are aplenty here.

I've missed trees a lot. Growing up in a small town where trees are everywhere you look and after living in the city for a few years where trees are sparse, I am once again enthralled with the beauty trees hold. Standing under the one nearest my window, I took a photo of one other nearby. They are big and beautiful!

#7. Garden 07.07.12

This was yesterday's Photo A Day for July. It was pulled from a file back in March 2012 because the heat has been on high (like many places within the US, it was over 100 degrees here in PA) so I pulled from the vaults so I didn't have to venture out of the apt to find a garden!

Today's challenge photo is lunch and will be posted later. I've just finished breakfast! :)
